LOCATION

The Intervention Zone is located in the Decentralized Territorial Entities bordering the protected areas of the Provinces of South Kivu, Maniema, North Kivu and Ituri Province with two ecological Corridors in particular, the South Kahuzi Ecological Corridor -Biega-Itombwe and the Northern Corridor of the Maiko National Park and the Okapis Wildlife Reserve. These Protected Areas are linked by community forests developed by CENAPAC with the aim of ensuring not only the management and sustainable use of natural resources, the conservation of forest ecosystems but also to ensure ecological connectivity and to guarantee freedom and migratory movements between these Protected Areas, Community Forests and adjoining ICCAs in the Decentralized Territorial Entities of the Provinces mentioned above.
